DDG: Perceptions Assessment/ Mid-Term Evaluation for “The Time is Now-Strengthening Police Accountability and Access to justice in Somalia”

Since September 2017, DDG has been implementing a three-year project entitled “The Time is Now -Strengthening Police Accountability and Access to Justice in Somalia.” This project seeks to enable a more community-focused, effective and accountable Somali police architecture, in line with the New Policing Model. It also seeks to make traditional conflict resolution mechanisms more inclusive, representative and capable of solving disputes in cooperation with the emerging statutory justice sector. This project is part of UNOPS and DFID’s Somalia Security and Justice Programme (SSJP), and it is conducted in line with the Somalia Development Plan on strengthening police and justice institutions. The purpose of this survey was to monitor changes in public perceptions on key issues such as trust and confidence in the police, the Xeer, and human rights-based policing. Its aim was to gauge whether DDG interventions are changing community perceptions towards security and justice providers.
